SOMETIMES REMADE IS BETTER: PET SEMATARY (2019)

Thirty years ago, Stephen King's "Pet Sematary" was brought to the big screen delivering audiences a story of death and resurrection that had never been seen before. The new script made some changes to the source material as well as the original film adaption. This is really how adaption to the book and a horror film remake should be. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, Dr. Luis Creed and his family move to a small town in the woods of Maine.

The huge property has an old pet cemetery behing it but beyond that lies something far more sinister, an ancient burial ground where, it is said, those buried there can return from the dead. Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz and John Lithgow are perfectly cast and the young Jete Laurence steals the show! Visually, it is a feast for the eyes and tends to be much creepier than its predecessor. Despite some jump-scares, there are still many moments of foreboding and fear thanks largely to the liberties taken with the original source material. The drastic changes with the plot enable the film to go more complex with its themes and it is a welcomed modification.

The upcoming home video release is a worthy addition to your horror film library. The movie is already available on streaming services and will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD on July 9th. The discs contain over 90 minutes of hair-raising deleted and extended scenes; a chilling alternate ending; a look at the main characters; behind-the-scenes footage; cast interviews and more. In addition, both the 4K Ultra and Blu-Ray combo packs include access to a digital copy of the film. The movie is suspenseful, eerie and horrifying. It's a surprisingly good remake that surpasses the very dated original and is a worthy adaption of a Stephen King classic.

SINOPSIS

Luego de que la familia Creed se muda de Boston a una zona rural de Maine, pronto descubren un antiguo lugar de emplazamientos funerarios escondido en las profundidades del bosque cerca de su nuevo hogar.
